Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was born in the United States to a family of slaves. As an adult, she managed to escape to the northern part of the country, where slavery was outlawed. She then returned to the South to help others achieve freedom. This intelligent and courageous woman inspired generations of African-Americans in their fight for equality and human rights.
